Hey there fellow LJs. So its farewell to the shop for a couple of months due to my surgery coming up this friday (oct 9) :( . I don’t know what I’m going to do the whole time. I’m too active and work habited to be layin in bed. Reason for surgery you ask? I was born epileptic with scar tissue on the left temple of my brain and since then its been getting worse. So now I head to the specialists in neurosurgery to get 16 cubic cm of my brain removed with high hopes of the seizures stopping 100%. But I’m not worried about the surgery lol. Its me being bored to tears with my tools rusting thats going to bother me >:( . What to do what to do…

Hi Mark,
Had an aneurysm repair recently, you’ll be back in the pink sooner than you think. My surgery was in June 2001 and I was back on the tractor in early July cutting grass relatively painlessly. Been top notch ever since. Best wishes for a fast recovery.

Best wishes for a safe surgery and speedy recovery! How about a new hobby using your hands and creative juices? Something like clay modeling witha plastic clay like Fimo dough, as you can model it until you’re satisfied with the results and then bake it, or just store it in an airtight plastic container until you want to work with it again.

It’s readily found in craft/hobby stores. It comes in dozens of colors and you have the knead the clay to become more pliable, so it also exercises your hands.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing from your “post-op healthy you”!

Charlie, please don’t talk about us like that. Maybe someday they will come up with a brain transplant to help us lumberjocks out. I often sing the song——”If I Only Had a Brain”- From The Wizard of Oz—Actually, it’s my theme song.

Mark, Good luck with your surgery. My sister had epilepsy so I have seen first-hand some of your struggles.
Seizures are not fun, but it is encouraging that they can do something about it. Hang in there, you’ll be back in the shop before you know it. Of course we expect you on here before then.

I will pray for you and your family.
