I used to think that non Christian charity was a waste because your soul and eternity were so much more important than the short life we have on earth. Then one day, and I don’t know when, I realized that only Jesus can save a dead man. I now think that anything done to help someone in need leaves that person a little better off and still with the possibility of accepting Christ. I have asked the STL Foodbank to schedule a commitment with me. I have committed myself to finding 20 people willing to sweat a little from 4pm – 7pm on the third Wednesday of every other month starting in January 2010. I currently do this with a group from my work and its actually pretty fun. Thats why I’m starting another group, so I can have twice the fun. Last time I participated with a group of 22 people. In 3 hours we packaged enough food for over 15,000 meals. Thats right I said fifteen THOUSAND. I need your help, your prayers, your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.

It has been an outstanding success! Thanks for asking. I have a few friends from work and several friends from church who show up and work hard. We go every other month on the third Wednesday night from 4-7. We pack boxes that get shipped to food pantries all over about 14 counties near St. Louis. There is always room for more hands. If your interested just send me a PM and I’ll put you on my distribution list and keep you up to date on what we are doing.

Thanks
Waid

You are to be commended for your good deeds.

Even we non-Christians have souls and do charitable work.

Not sure how I missed this the first time. Great job. I wish I was closer to try and join in, but unfortunately, I’m a ways away. It is a good reminder that we can get out of our seats and do something on our own though! Thanks!

Thanks for offering to include me but I am a bit far away :-) Jenn and I were just discussing, a while ago, working with our kids down at our Helping Hands kitchen once the kids get old enough to benefit from the experience as well as being big enough to be helpful.

Hobomonk,

I have no idea what point you are trying to make but thank you for the commendation.
