Just signed up per Brant’s invite. His rings intrigued me. I think I’ll be making some of my own. On that note, Brant, I did a little research on the subject and built this ring-size reference. Thought you and some others might find this helpful:
Ring , Fract. , Error
Luckily for me, my wife is size 8.5. :) Everyone has a 3/4” forstner bit.
For the rest of you-uns, here’s a little background. I’ve been around carpentry and woodworking my whole life. I teach a few classes at WoodCraft in Springfield va. I have interests in hang gliding, electronics, woodworking, cnc, programming, and smaller turnings. I hate sanding and using elbow grease (ie. extensive use of hand-tools). I build mostly boxes, pens, and smaller nick knacks. I also enjoy building my own tools, from mallets and other hand tools to one of my current projects, a horizontal mortiser. I also have a drum sander and cnc router in the works. I wish I had more time to just finish some of them.
