He’s not far off a highway and Lansing, maybe he would let us meet there. We may have to bring our own grill, but thats no big deal. Hope it don’t rain. What say you Rick. This guys business is only about 5 miles north of Lansing and probably 2 miles off the highway.

I know Karson. If I had the bucks I’d fly you here. I just was going through the lumberjocks and got to page 30 of the new jocks. I found 10 in those 30 pages from MI. 4 of them from Grand Rapids, not counting Rick. If they are proud enough to put their home state why don’t they want to meet others from here? I just don’t get it.

Mike: I wish I knew why more people don’t want to get involved in more activities. We have workshops in our woodworking club and you have the same people for each of them (And many of them don’t need the training, they are there for the fellowship)

Sounds great to me Rick. If I can’t get the sawyers place I know of a park just off the highway in Lansing that has 2 or three nice pavilions. We can make it happen, I just wish we could get more people involved. There are so many it ain’t funny. I’d bet there are at least a hundred people from Michigan on LJ’s.

After a few posts It looks like we are shooting for the 24th of October. We are trying to be more centraly located for everyone. The last one was held at my home and 2 people drove 2.5 hours to be here.

I’ll contact that sawyer and see if he will let us have it there. If not I know a park in Lansing just off the Highway that would be easy to get to, called Hawks Island. We won’t have a problem getting a pavilion there. They have grills there too. m

Mike it is unfortunate that there is not a rousing response. However I think that the three of us, four if you include our visit to see Tearen, had a good time. You certainly don’t need a crowd. Sometimes fewer is better. I would gladly participate if my calendar allowed it, but my dance card is full. It seems that a date was determined, but without a solid location it’s difficult to make definite plans.

The news is Great! We have at least 10 people showing up. I have the pavillion at Hawk Island reserved for us and Kelvin of Ravenwood Farm the sawyer is more than happy to have us come to his place to look around or purchase lumber at very cheap prices. How about some white oak, or cherry for a buck a board foot. We’ll have some grub, have a bull session and show each other what we brought and head out to the lumberyard.

Yeah I got that is that for just white oak and cherry or did he/she have a big lot to choose from?...right now I can get red oak for a 1.20 a foot..

Chris, he has walnut, red and white oak, elm, cherry, ash, some sassafrass, I think hickory and I’m sure other woods I don’t remember. He has some chunks for turning, and he has better grade woods at 2 dollars a bf and higher of course. We could buy a bunk and split the cost 2, 3, 4 ways and get some decent wood cheap. You can call him directly at 517-641-6189 his name is Kelvin Potter and he’ll call you back if you ask him questions, tell him you’re with Lumberjocks and leave your call back number. He’ll be able to tell you about all the wood he has.
