Been turning for about a year now but I was making drop spindles and my old midi lathe and it was a little small for bowls. I could have made a bowl but I wanted to make lager bowls than what the lathe was capable of making. Just got a new Nova DVR 2024 about a week ago, practiced on some scrap wood and I finally figured I would use some of my nicer wood. I have several Padauk boards that have sat in the weather for 30+ years so they have some very interesting colors… seems like I could have turned anything and it would have been amazing thanks to the wood.

def has some nice grain. I like how the center circle makes it look like it’s an off center turning
