I will be doing my first art show starting next week and the work will be on display for three weeks; I am entering a small Japanese table and a contemporary bench/table. For smaller furniture pieces do you often display them on a low pedestal? I would like for people to be able to look underneath and inspect the work without having to crawl around on the ground. Feedback? Pics of your display would be helpful if you have available.

Regards, JM

Hi Jm, I live and my business is located in a small art community that has regular art galleries. Three times a year we have art shows and have only one wood artist that actually shows any of his furniture here. He usually displays his furniture in one gallery only. He has three pieces at three different levels the larger piece being closest to the floor. I would estimate that the first level is 18 inches high, the second level 24 inches and the third level is 30 or 32 inches. He also uses different colored cloth on each stand to compliment the piece that’s being shown on it.
He also has one of his tables next to his display with a portfolio and business cards on it so everyone can view other forms of his work and will have his contact info. He dresses the table with his portfolio a cloth, a small tuned candle stand ( with candle in it )and a photo of himself.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jarrod, Brian(EternalDesign) who does some beautiful work posted this a while back. I really liked the way he displayed each piece on a white pedestal. It helps sells the story that each piece is unique and one of a kind. Good luck at the art show.

Thanks Brian & Bruc,

I ended up going baseless; I had to drop my piece off Tuesday afternoon. I’ll post pics, but I am considering pedestals for future shows, etc…

Thanks for the feedback.

Regards, JM
