Hi Ljs,

I have a conundrum. I finally got my table saw and now it’s time for some new jig building. Unfortunately, the big name stores by me (LI/NYC) all sell garbage quality ply. Best I’ve seen is sanded ply and domestic birch, but it’s typically warped. I guess I could go MDF, but I’d like something a bit more resistant to damage. So BB/ApplePly are what come to mind. Unfortunately, I can’t find it anywhere! I even tried to look for what good ol’ Norm uses (MDO) but I haven’t been successful locating that either (even at local lumber yards. They seem only to mimic what the big names carry).

Hoping you guys can help.

Please advise.

Nothing super close it appears,

Roberts Plywood Co. Deer Park NY (24 miles) Suburban Mills Huntington Station NY (24 miles) EXOTIC WOODS USA East Northport NY (28 miles) Woodcraft – Norwalk, CT Norwalk CT (41 miles) AGINCOURT Hillsborough NJ (47 miles)

Go to and put in your zip to see if there are others I guessed with Hempstead and a 50 mile range.

Tried woodfinder but when I type in my zipcode the closest place that comes up is in PA. Strange.

Thanks for trying. Called Roberts Plywood and they have 5×5 sheets of 1/2” for 46ish.

Check with local cabinet makers to see where they buy their BB or if you can buy it from them for a reasonable price.

I recently found a pretty nice yard in White Plains with the help of some fellow LJers called Condon Lumber. Excellent lumber yard.
