Topic tags/keywords: question ipo is listed as spam

Cricket,

Thank goodness it is fixed now, but for several days my IP or your site had my address listed as spam by Lumber Jocks. I was really bummed out trying to figure out what sin I had committed to be blackballed and not be able to access my projects, blogs, and most of all I couldn’t communicate with my Lumber Jock friends.

Cricket, is there some reason for this? If it happens again is there some way I can contact someone for help? How do I solve this problem if I cannot reply, comment, or contact anyone on the site?

I will say this, being kicked off the island for a few days made me appreciate what a fine thing this site is and how much I would hate to be without it. I have had hours of fun participating, posting, and sharing on Lumber Jocks. I value what a fine thing this site is and the opportunities it gives me to share woodworking and ideas with others.

Thanks for fixing the problem for me, but I would like to have a backup plan to the notice in red ”Your IP is marked as spam, and cannot register on this forum.” I can understand why this might be a necessity for those of you who operate this site, but I hated having it happen to me, and would not wish it on any others who don’t deserve excommunication.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I think it is automated. I will check with our techs to see what I can find out.

I am sorry that happened to you.

The contact us link at the bottom of the community goes to me.

Hey Boxguy,

I think you meant “IP” which means Internet Provider, not “IPO” which means “Initial Public Offering” we’re talking about stocks in that case.

Not trying to be a knowitall or anything like that.

Cricket How would I contact Lumber Jocks without being on Lumber Jocks? All I could come up with was to join under another account and hit this section of the forum.

Elche, it is good to be back, Boss. It is de plane, de plane…and the shavings I missed.

Jerry, I edited in the correction. Glad someone is more alert than I am at about 2:00. I appreciate the help with the acronym. This is my IPO in terms of forum topics.

The company that owns LumberJocks owns probably over 1,000 websites, 15 of which are other “home improvement” sites. The name of the company is Vertical Scope, and their contact info is here: http://www.verticalscope.com/contact-us/email-us.html

Robin, thanks for the contact site and information. I’ll put it in my address file.

Woodust, that was a funny video link. I think I have called that guy once or twice. He works for Verizon.

Well, Al, since you were away from here for a few days I bet that you dreamed up some great new ideas for boxes. We’ll be looking forward to seeing them.

Doc, being off the island for a while makes you appreciate being on the island. Reminds me of recovering from back surgery…only not as painful. I remember the utter joy of just being able to walk outside and around the house again. On a cosmic level, it makes you wonder if death is like that. Wow, way too much karma in that thought. I had better stick to making boxes and posting on Lumber Jocks.

Charles, I did find that there is a box idea I want to complete. I’ll make it next month after I catch up. One of my concerns while away was what craziness you and some others would get up to without me to keep an eye on you..and you to keep an eye on me.

Being away, having too much talk time on your hands? Started thinking? Scarey. LOL! Yes often we don’t really appreciate our lives. I’m trying to make each day valuable and relevant. And deal with Murphy! LOL!

Blackie, I hadn’t realized how much fun I was having and how much I was missing my LJ friends like you. There is often a silver lining to many dark clouds. It felt like you were my next door neighbor building an extension onto his shop while I watched from my kitchen window. Have fun boxing.

Doc, sometimes my mind can be a scary place to visit. But when you get to be our age, it is possible to not take for granted simply being alive and being able to physically do what you want to do. To be living in America at this time in history and to have some time and health left to follow your bliss is a greater blessing than most of us realize.
