I’ve been shopping for a BS and pretty much landed on the laguna 14|12 or Grizzly 513×2. I decided to get the grizzly cause I have a 10% off coupon sitting here and I didn’t want to wait, but it’s expired! I thought it didn’t but it apparently it was only good august to october of last year.

I just missed the tent sale that I can drive to (missouri) and I guess Grizzly does another sale in the fall (maybe I can get another coupon). I saw several (outdated) links to like woodcraft sale pages – do these other places have regular, seasonal sales or do I just gotta watch em?

I’d wait, usually on these forums someone will get ones they aren’t going to use and offer it up. Alternatively, you can post a thread asking for one every once in a while. Grizzly usually has a summer sale (going on right now, I think) and they send out a flyer.

Tool sales happen just before a newer model is introduced. You can look for “news” on manufacturer’s sites for their new offerings.

FYI Woodwerks has the 14/12 on sale now 10% off and their shipping is $75.

Most of the major retailers of Laguna have fairly regular 10% off sales and one never seems to have to wait more than a month for them to be on sale somewhere.

Powermatic/Jet tends to go on sale a couple of times a year at 15% off.

Grizzly has 2-3 sales a year that run for a longer time but usually doesn’t have as high a percentage off, they release coupons to subscribers of a couple of magazines yearly (10% usually) their catalogs often have a 5% coupon but it is tied to the catalog recipient and not all catalogs get one and it seems to be random.

Over the years I haven’t seen the “model closeout” pricing that MrRon mentions save for high volume stocked machines like Ridgid, Porter Cable or Craftsman models that in the past have been blown out. Many of the other larger hobby machines like Jet, Powermatic, Oliver and Delta usually are dropped shipped and the “manufacturers” seemingly get rid of the supply before introducing a new machine or the new machine is priced significantly higher than the old one providing incentive to get the old one before it is gone. Grizzly seems to do more or less the same leaving the older model in the catalog until it sells, they occasionally closeout a machine but it is rare and quite frankly it is rare they quit carrying an older model, many of their model numbers have been around for 15-20 years, if they make incremental improvements they just sell out of the old and then start selling the new “improved” version.

Tanks for the tip Huxley, Laguna is on the way.

Btw for anyone playing the long game, woodwerks has their gift cards 10% off but they won’t work until July 1. If you waited for the next sale you could get 20% off. Like I said, long game.

I picked up enough GC to turnaround and buy a nice resaw blade come July 1.

Have your say...
