Looking to build a round dining table with an extension leaf out of either QS red oak or walnut (I have a supply of both on-hand).

Needs to seat 4 people without a leaf and up to 6 or 8 with a leaf. Would prefer a “pedestal” type stand instead of 4 legs. I don’t have a lathe, so a turned piece is out of the question.

My wife likes clean, simple lines (arts & crafts, shaker, etc.). Surprisingly, I’m not finding too many plans online for “round” dining tables, only rectangular ones.

Wood Magazine has plans for this one, which is my favorite so far…

Anybody got pictures or plans of something similar? Or anything else for that matter?

Thanks!

Jason

Not a prob with round tables, but whenya start expanding for 6 to 8 seating you’ll have to be concerned abt. stability. Better have a BIG, sturdy base.
Don’t wanna sound like a party pooper, but….........

I’d consider buying that plan and adapting your table to follow the mechanics. I can only think the extension leaves are stored off the table with that pedestal (unless they fold and are stored under the table top).

@moment – I have gone round and round, the rabbit keeps coming out the hat, it is very confusing and no, I still don’t know what you mean. But keep it ever this way; I like it.

Now for a fence post you can’t beat this http://lumberjocks.com/projects/55334

“I am sitting here trying to think of something mundanely clever to say. I am so mundane, that I can not.
I see you took one fent and then another fent, then before you knew it you had fence. Picket too.

Take care Barb. Congrats on the 15th, that is so cool”.
