So my buddy was given this axe and doesn’t know it’s attended use. I thought it should have a offset handle and used for some type of carving. Does anyone know what type of axe it is and what it’s used for?

It looks like it’s intended use would be to help in removing limbs and bark on felled trees. .......... Jerry (in Tucson)

Looks to me like a regular single bit axe that got bent.

Never seen an axe like that, AJ! Is the handle painted or fiberglass? Any maker’s marks on the axe head?

I wonder if somebody put a regular axe in a forge, bent the blade and made his own de-barking axe?

Gee whiz. I thought that EVERYBODY knew that it was for cutting crooked trees. :))
Yep! De-barking. You can also use it on the neighbor’s barking dog.
