I want to build a rolling cart for the deck with a cutout on top for a shallow oval galvanized bucket I have. The idea is to fill the bucket with sodas and ice. A shelf below could hold a cooler. Since its for outdoor use I was thinking the top should be 1x or 2x, not solid, but I’m stuck on how to design it to support the bucket and to frame around it. Maybe its similar to framing a deck around a tree, only on a smaller scale?

You might consider marine plywood

Norm built one of these a few years ago:

Grill Cart

Actually, this doesn’t look like what I was thinking about, but I couldn’t find it under any other search terms.
