I found some analine dyed leather I was thinking of using to line my woodworking vise’s jaws. Can the leather dye transfer to my wood pieces or otherwise interfere with finishing?

Sorry I’m not really sure. In general aniline dye is pretty color fast, but I suppose it’s possible some of the extra dye would rub off. You could try washing the leather first, then testing it with some scrap wood without glueing the leather on, just drop it in over the vice faces.

Have your say...
