Exterior door glue up

Anyone here ever glue up two different species of wood for an exterior door. I got some really nice metal grid green tempered glass and I am going to build a new back door. I want cherry inside, but not out. I don’t forsee any real problems, but thought I would ask.

If you use a bunch of short pieces of wood on the core and finger joint them together and the veener both sides you shoud be fine .
