I am looking at buying a used Raimann KM310 M , I believe there was a 50 hp and a 30 hp machine. I am wondering about shops around the country running Raimanns, what power there machines are powered at. I believe most are running 440, but have had a few people tell me they will run 230. I am just curious if anyone iz churning a Raimann on 230, with a 50 hp motor and if it runs correctly. ( Ha!!!!! Am I making any sence)????

I have a Mereen Johnson 312 gang and that has a 50hp motor running off 440, your best bet would be to call weinig americas headquarters and talk directly to a tech. They are very helpful and can troubleshoot just about anything over the phone. I also have a weinig moulder, there is a few reasons why they are the industry standard for moulders first being precision second being the customer service.

It’s not a gang saw. It’s more a striaghtline rip that can run up to two blades.

Sounds like a pretty big operation if you are looking at an Optimizing Ripsaw. I would have thought you would have reliable industrial electrician on call. You should b e talking to him.
How close are you to the panel or better yet how close is the pole where power comes to the shop. You could set the machine right next to the panel but if the panel is 1,000 feet from the pole and it’s also the size of the wire. Do you have 230 Volt or 208. You can call Weinig but your electrician, if he’s any good will know all the answers. If the motor is rated to run on 230 it will work if the other things like distance, wire size are taken into account. The other part of wire size is expense. Wire to run 230 volt a distance is going top cost more than the wire to run 440 volt.

Questions such as that can be asked for guidance on where to get help but I wouldn’t rely on a forum answer to such an important issue. Your electician is a licensed professional and can be held accountable to get it right.
