I am a HUGE tool addict. I don't go crazy for every tool... just the best tools. I grew up in an extreme DIY home. Over hundreds of Saturdays, and thousands of projects my father taught me how to master almost anything around the home. There was always a common theme between every project; you need the right tool for the job.
That same theme holds true in my woodworking. Way too much money and time have been wasted on projects that ultimately were ruined, or required a lot more preparation before finishing do to poor tools.
I live by a simple phase "Buy the right tool for the job, and only cry once. Buy the wrong tool for the job and cry twice". The right tool usually costs more, but you'll be happier with it in the long run. The wrong tool for the job costs less, and when it breaks or destroys your project then you find your self heading back out to the store to buy the right tool.
