Why I live in Montana... #2: Living In Montana Slideshow

Montana

I have been playing around with my MacBook slideshow program today. There are a couple of ways to create slideshows and I figured out the simple method first. I will move forward to using the more complicated program later.

This is all leading up to me using the many still shots I have of my projects and using voice-over narration to share the construction details.

For now I have assembled a slideshow of the beautiful area that I live. If images from the movie “A River Runs Through It” come to mind when you think of Montana, well, that is pretty accurate.

In this slide show you can see one of the things that I enjoy the most, that is spending time outdoors with my wife Rita and my dogs, Cookie and Bella.

Enjoy-

Peace, Love, & Woodworking

You could tell alot about woodworking with just pictures and a voiceover track rather than video in one static place. A great slide show with VO can often tell more about things than video…try it.

Todd, I thought I lived in Gods country here in Indiana but I can see by that wonderful slideshow I’m a long way from it. You live in one of our countries most beautiful places. Now I can see the reason why you were so homesick when you were working in Ohio for so long, your lovely wife, the dogs, and that country!

Thanks for the slideshow, Todd. You do live in a wonderful area. Too often we fail to take advantage of Nature’s bounty because of life’s daily grind. I am glad to see that you and your wife take some time off and simply enjoy yourselves.

Todd,
I drove through your part of the country back in the beginning of Novemberr. And as your slideshow it is a beautiful part of our country, the hardest part of driving through Idaho and Montana was leaving.

Awe inspiring. I have always loved the mountains and lived in the Cascades of Oregon several years and traveled to Switzerland many times. They don’t have anything on Montana.

I had to look back at your previous post and saw why you don’t live in Ohio. I happen to live in Ohio and I would greatly appreciate it if you would make me feel better by informing me about the amount of snow that you have right now.

Ampeater – The deep freeze that you just got through with did not compare to the length and depth of the one that we had, and they don’t let school out here for having a high of -10°. But on Saturday we hit 60°. I am originally from Centerburg which is in Knox county, about 30 miles north of Columbus.

My favorite part of Montana is the fly fishing I get to do as we pass through your great state on our way to Alaska in the summer. A clear day in Montana is really hard to beat unless you’re on a nice stream when the bite is on.

Nicely done slideshow Todd, Congratulations.

IDAHO

Rita and I have been through Idaho and really liked it. We know several people that moved to Boise and have always heard positive things about the town as well as Idaho Falls . Although we have not talked about it for some time, we have thought that we could live there some day if we get the itch to move.

Forget the landscape and dogs, you are there because Rita lives there. We know. We understand. You’d be in Tenbucktoo if she was there.

I need to come get a burger at “Mark’s In and Out.”

And, there’s no speed limit I hear.

Too bad there’s all those buildings there. Ha.

thanks buddy, nice slideshow. Bravo.

Dang, I couldn’t get the slide show to work fast enough. I’ve seen Montana any how. I’d like to get your butt on a good horse and show you the country on the south side of the park. I think you’d like the Yellowstone country. Thanks for the trip, Todd.

Well Todd you are truly blessed – great woodworking talent, good photographer, computer guru in the making, beautiful wife and great dogs. I’d send pictures of my area – but we don’t really have very much in the way of a scenic countryside here in Louisiana. We do have warm temperatures though, something that would be missing in “Big Sky Country”.

Thanks for the tour, I really enjoyed the slide show and music.

Beautiful images of beautiful country!
Makes ones soul almost feel as if it could soar through this beautiful land!

I think this just reinforces the desire we as wood workers all have on some level. To take what nature provides us, our chosen canvas we call wood and try to make something worthy. To try to make something almost as beautiful as the land from which it came.
