I am always excited to meet up with another woodworker and especially another pro. The conversation seems to go to a whole other level, especially when both of us are equally passionate about the same things. Those things would be woodworking, design, and sharing the knowledge with other woodworkers.

Last night was just about as good as it can get when Andy Chidwick stopped by with his family at dinner time. He is an excellent craftsman, designer, and he is also passionate about sharing the knowledge.

Andy is at the beginning of a 4 month journey as he tours the country hitting all of The Wood Working Shows that will be visiting many of the major cities around the country. He gives demonstrations on creating sculpted furniture (think Sam Maloof but don’t limit it to that) and shares all of the knowledge he can in seminars.

So while the visit was short, we shot a quick video together for you to watch.

Andy is a genuinely great guy, woodworker, and family man. If you are planning on attending The Wood Working Shows be sure to catch him and his son giving demonstrations. Check on dates & schedule by visiting TheWoodWorkingShows.com.

Follow the Chidwick Family Adventure as recorded by Tano at travelpod.com (this should be an interesting perspective.)

You can also follow Andy on Twitter and Blogspot.

I have been to The Wood Working Show in Columbus, OH when I was working out there. It was always a great day to see a lot of tool demo’s, catch a seminar, and pick up on special deals. Meeting up with Andy will make it even better. It is great to continually meet up with the best people in the world – Woodworkers!

Great interview Todd…and nice to learn a little more about Andy Chadwick, I’ve seen and admired his work in the past. Since the WoodWorkingShow was in the Sacramento area in Nov., I guess I missed Andy. Hopefully he will still be touring with them when the show returns to this area in 2011. By the way, Happy Holidays to you and Rita, your family and the Chadwicks. Have a safe adventure Andy.

gbear-It sounds like he will be doing it again.

If I remember correctly, Sacramento was where he got the back window shot out of his van in the middle of the night…maybe he will reconsider that one…

Todd: I’ll try aand stop by and meet him in Baltimore in a week. He will need to stop by Chuck Benders booth and say hello also.

I try and use Chucks booth as a meeting place for LumberJocks.

Karson – Besides yourself, Chuck Bender is another one I would love to meet. It has been a while but I had a good time talking on the phone to Chuck, he is another really great guy.

Hi Todd;

Great post!

I just checked out Andy’s website… He does beautiful work.

Maybe I’ll catch up with Karson at the show, and stop by to meet Andy and Charles Bender, (another fantastic craftsman), whom I’ve been wanting to meet.

Another one of the great connections Andy & I have are that we both have our roots in the carpentry trade. So there was a lot that we can relate to with one another.

I was fortunate enough to see Andy’s presentation at the woodworking show here in Denver a short time ago. You instantly get the feeling that he’s not only passionate about his craft, but that he’s just as passionate to share his knowledge with others. Seemed like a great guy, and not someone that was in attendance just to market his services.

Jonathan- that was the way Andy impressed me.

I don’t care when someone has something to sell, it only becomes an issue when I feel like the person becomes a pushy used car salesman for their product.

Some of the great conversation that we shared was entirely about sharing with other woodworkers. Not about selling – just sharing. We made a great connection talking on the subject.

I know a lot of guys will go to the shows and see Chuck Bender and now they can be sure to watch for Andy Chidwick.

If Chuck would find a moment to stop by the American Craftsman Workshop I would be sure to get him on video too;)
