I used to subscribe to just about every woodworking magazine out there. I have cut back to only a couple total now but I still peruse them all at the local book store.

Today I picked up the current issue of Popular Woodworking #181 and found an article by LJ member Tom Fidgen.

The article found on page 58 is an excerpt from his newly released book Made By Hand. I own a copy of this book and love it. It is a hard bound book, well constructed, and full of wonderful information and images. It also comes with a DVD to watch Tom in his shop.

The magazine article gives instruction for constructing a beautiful tool chest that is made for traveling. Carrying this tool chest on a job would absolutely radiate your passion as a craftsman and I urge you to check it out.

I think that it is great we have such a talented and masterful craftsman here on LJ that is being published in books, magazines, and being seen on TV and internet programing.

Be sure to check him out, he is a true craftsman that demonstrates my motto-

Share the Love~Share the Knowledge

Todd,
very kind words- thank you.
I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying the book. Feedback like this makes the 16 months it took of writing really worth while!
all the best.

Wow – that is a lot of work. Way more than I imagined. You keep ratcheting up on my respect-o-meter and you started out pretty high at the beginning anyway.

With any luck some copies will find their way to the philippines. At least I still have toms blog that continues to inspire me.

Blake – Yes, I even commented on it.

I mentioned it again because of the magazine article is directly excerpted from the book.

Kiwi – You make me appreciate the resources I have local and convenient.
