I have been looking at this great group and site for a week and decided to join today. I am just getting started in my woodworking adventure as a approach 50 years old. All the kids are gone and love being in my 20×30 shop in the backyard. I have already found several projects on the site I am interested in trying and they will definitely stretch my woodworking skills, but I have to start some where. Looking forward to years of adventure. I would be interested in meeting anyone in the Boise area.

Hi Tim, welcome to LJ’s. The people here are great and you will, like me, learn a lot I’m sure.

Your just getting started and have a 20 X 30 shop?! Well I was going to be nice and say welcome…...... Seriously though, welcome. There are some great people here and some fantastic woodworkers (not me), who answer questions competently and don’t hesitate to give out their advice to new woodworkers (me). Great to have you here

I see on your shop page that you have a table saw. The first thing I recommend doing is making a cross-cut sled. You will use that so often, I promise that it’ll change your life.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to LJ’s Tim. If that “postage stamp” shop is not full of tools, you can look forward to filling it. Remember this! Each new project will require new joinery methods thus justifying a new tool acquisition.

Hope that you find this site a entertaining and informative as I have.

Good to hear that you added yourself into this addictive corner. Start with the searching for what is easy for you. There are lots of beginners who are really good.

Thanks for all the comments, just posted a few projects I have been working on, just very basic and yes I did build a crude but effective table saw sled, and use it all the time. Having fun making saw dust, and looking a post daily.
