1905 reproduction in Mahogany and leather

Blog entry by titmas posted 258 days ago 199 reads 0 times favorited 3 comments Add to Favorites Watch

this is my latest project. my client wants 5 reproductions of this chair originally built by S.Karpen & Brothers from Chicago in 1905 in quartersawn or pattern cut Genuine Mahogany,

all i have to go on is the actual chair itself. it is to be an accurate reproduction with the addition of a fully cushioned seat(as seen in the b&w photo) and a finish that is much darker than the condition of the original. this one was refinished much lighter than the original was (as seen by the underside of the seat)

i’ll post photos on my google Picasa page and update my progress here in my blog. stay tuned!

I will be putting this on my watch list. This should be pretty exciting. Congrats on the nice score!

Congratulations, are you going to refinish the original chair with the darker stain?
