I just thought I would make a post to all the Lumber Jocks to let you now what a great year I had being a member of this group. It’s hard to believe how fast a year can go but yes there it went. I don’t always get to visit this site daily but even in my busiest of weeks I can’t imagine not seeing whats going on a few times at some point during the week. There is no better place were woodworkers of all skill levels can get together and show off your next master piece, ask that troubling question, share your experiences, have a few laughs, maybe help someone else, and of course learn from some of the best woodworkers. I have met some great people whom I’ve never really met in person but count as friends. Now speaking of friends a very good friend of mine who is a retired wood shop school teacher gave me a very nice little gift, a 38” Woodmaster wide belt sander. He bought it years ago and said he wasn’t very happy with it so he bought a Grizzly model to replace it. There it sat in almost brand new condition until I came along and he said I could give it a good home. I don’t have the wiring done for it in my shop yet but when I get it up and running I’m sure I get over all the flaw’s he found with it.

Congratulations on you first anniversary with LJ. I agree with all you said. When we’re not in the shop we can still enjoy our hobby with our cyberspace friends, have fun and learn something new to boot. I hope you enjoy that sander. It looks pretty impressive. It was a very generous gift from your friend, and he must have felt he was putting it into worthy hands.

Paul,
You’re very busy and I have a demanding schedule even though I’m technically retired, so our schedules may conflict, but if we can find a time when they coincide, I could help with your wiring. You’re not that far from me and one the many things I learned in a long work career is electrical wiring. I was, at one point, a professional industrial electrician.
PM me or email me and perhaps we can work something out.
Best regards,
db

Happy anniversary and wow! what a gift! I have only been here a couple months so far and find my time here to be the highlight of my day.
