This is a very well build drill press. I have done and bought other brands and this was the better one. I must say I am very disappointed in the Powermatic Drill press and I am not the only one if you read all the bad reviews that out there for it.

The Delta is awesome, it best feature I think is the low noise that it produces when it is on. You can actually listen to music or have a conversation wile its running. My cordless drill makes more noise than this. This mean allows you to use mild hearing protection instead of the full kit.

The laser is a awesome feature and its spot on. I don’t know how much i will use this but is defiantly a nice to have. I very clear even in strong bright light. It switches on with a simple push button and is wired in so it does not require any change of batteries. The bright LED light that is also wired in is vary handy and fully adjustable to reach all the necessary work areas that you might need that extra bit of light for. Being a LED it will last for a very long time.

I must say this is the longest travel I have seen on any drill press so far. A full 6 inches. That will allows you to go thru those thick peaces that you normally would have to turn and drill from the other side. This always leaves some opportunity for error and I am prone to make that mistake, being new to the woodworking game and all. The stop is also very cool. You can just press them and move them comfortable and quickly to the desired location. It then turn so you can fine tune your setting for the best results.

The lever feature a measuring ring that is resettable so you can reset it once you engage your stops. It made out of fine steal and it operates very smoothly. You really don’t have to put a lot of effort in to get it to move. The return operation is also friction free. And the 3/4 HP motor is plenty strong enough for all your woodworking needs.

The table assembly move very easily up and down on the very sturdy rat gear that it has. The hole operation from up and down to tilting forward is very smooth. I’m very happy with the whole operation.

Thanks for posting I’m on the market for a drill press and was looking at powermatic and delta and was leaning more towards the delta. The one thing that made look at pm was the way it change speed but I was watching some reviews on you tube of both of them and delta well I thought was a better built drill and the table could be tilt vertical and side to side that was more important to me then a one horse motor . Thanks again

well I had a 1.5 HP variable speed drill and i can say for sure that 3/4 hp motor in the delta feel much stronger. This is the best drill i ever had. very nicely rounded.
