This interview took place in March of 2009 at the William Ng School. I took Darrell’s Aurora End Table class and he was kind enough to sit and chat with me about all kinds of things: influences, design theories, copying other works, and Greene & Greene. Darrell also gives a few tips to help bring out that inner designer inside of all of us (if it isn’t coming out naturally). What a fun week that was!

Thanks for bringing this interview to us. I agree with Cory about having a lot to learn! Seeing how much this is ingrained into who he is, it makes me feel like the ultimate rookie!

I noticed that they talked about the “rules of design”. Any idea where I can read about those?
Great video, please keep it up.
Thx, Lloyd

I know Darrell recommends a few books on his site at http://furnituremaker.com, so you may want to check that out.
By no means am I as well read in this area as I would like to be, but here’s one book you might want to check out: http://www.amazon.com/Woodworkers-Guide-Furniture-Design-Proportion/dp/155870437X
I am out of town and have a REALLY crappy connection, so when I get home I will do a little more digging and get some suggestions from others.
