You’ll have to forgive me for doing a little self-promotion here folks. But I think you are going to like this.

We are very proud to announce The Woodshop Widget, a web-widget and iPhone/iPad/iPod app made especially for woodworkers. We’ve been thinking about putting an app out there for some time now, but the last thing we wanted to do was give you a glorified RSS feed of TWW content. Instead, we wanted the app to be incredibly useful, while still having some Wood Whisperer flavor. So together with the blood sweat and tears of our buddy Kenneth Woodruff, we have what we feel is a full-featured, first of its kind, application and web-widget. Here are the primary features:
Board Foot Calculator
Wood Movement Calculator
Shellac Mixing and Dilutions
Fraction/Decimal Conversions
Squareness Calculator
TWW Bonus Tips

Marc, I been suspicious of this for years and now I know for sure. You are, without a doubt, the coolest guy I know!

I’ve got a Verizon LG flip-top phone. Will it work that?

Excellent idea for an app. Downloading now.
Worth $2 to me for the math functions.
Thanks!

Awesome…now I don’t have to do any of that annoying “math” or “thinking”. God bless Steve Jobs for inventing the Iphone….I think I will drive to the mall now and hug an Apple genius…

Looks like a pretty useful little program..I would probably buy it if I didn’t hate Apple products with every fiber of my being…Maybe make an Make an Android version, for the rest of us non band wagon jumpers..

We are currently looking into the Android side of things. No promises though but we do want this to be on as many platforms as possible. One step at a time. :)

For those of you who don’t have Apple products, feel free to bookmark The Woodshop Widget page. Its a heck of a resource and it has all the same functionality as the app.

And for you guys on Verizon phones, that’s a negatory. If the phone has a flash-enabled browser, you might be able to get the web widget working. But that’s probably going to be on a case-by-case basis. Sorry.

I hope it works for the itouch. I’m about to place my order for a 64gb version. I thought about the ipad but I figured I would never get to play with it since my wife and 4 yr old daughter would take it from me. They each already have an itouch so mine won’t be that big of a deal.
