looking for a new Random orbit sander - 22 replies
I am looking for a new ROS. I currently have a dewalt one that’s about 10 years old and it’s outlived its usefulness. I have carpal tunnel in both my hands and using the one I currently have is really rough on them. I’m looking for one that operates smoothly with minimal vibration. What do you use and what do you recommend?

question about making a pizza peel - 5 replies
A while back one of the woodworking magazines had an article on making a pizza peel. In the article they told how to make a sled to taper the peel with your planer. I thought I had the magazine but I can’t find it. Does anyone know where I might find a copy of this?

water in my air line - 9 replies
I have a dewalt 5 gal air compressor that I have stored in a cabinet under my work table. I ran some PVC from the inside of the cabinet to the outside where I can hook up to it with a hose. I am having some issues with water/rust in the air. I don’t empty the compressor every day, like I should, but I also don’t use it every day. ...

Looking for a bandsaw - 11 replies
I am in the market for a new bandsaw. I know there are lots of LJ’s with the 14” delux Rikon and I was initially looking at getting this one. I got the Grizzly catalog in the mail and they have 2 17” for around the same price. One of them is even cheaper, the Polar Bear Series one. I’m wondering if anyone has one of th...

fluted dowel rods - 3 replies
I recently purchased the Jessem Dowel jig. So far the jig works great, haven’t really put it through the paces yet but I’m sure it will perform great. I have been looking around the net for fluted dowel stock. Not the pins, those are everywhere. I would like to have some long stock, so I can make the dowels what ever length I want...

clamping dove tails - 4 replies
I recently purchased a leigh dovetail jig, which by the way is a great jig, and fairly simple to use. At least once you learn their process. I made my first set of dovetail drawers this weekend and now need to glue and clamp them together. I was trying to figure out how to go about this and figured instead of trying to reinvent the wheel I wou...

router jig for cutting mortises - 5 replies
I need to cut some mortises to assemble the frame of a door and I don’t have any kind of jig for doing this. I am curious to know what is being used by those who don’t have a dedicated mortising machine. I am thinking about making a jig to do this and would love to see what my fellow jocks are using and maybe “borrow” a...

Jointer - Jet or Ridgid - 3 replies
I currently have an older Jet 6” jointer that I purchased 5 months ago for $250 off craigslist. I got it from the original owner and he said it was about 15 years old. Still works great. I just purchased a new set of knives for it, but have yet to install them. I was at Home Depot today and they are selling the Ridgid 6” jointe...

Problem assembling ridgid r4511 table saw - 6 replies
I scored a r4511 from home depot a few weeks ago for $299! Started the assembly and most has gone off without a hitch, thanks to many blogs and reviews here on LJ’s. Last night I was putting on the table extensions and the right one had a sag of about 1/16” and the front edge stuck out about 1/16” from the rest of the table. ...

I picked up a new TS today. the ridgid r5411. at $299 i couldn’t pass it up. I have a jet contractors saw, but after i sell it on craigslist I’m hoping to break even or maybe even come out ahead. Anyway, I’ve been trying to find a dado insert plate and have not seen one anywhere. Does anyone know where I might find one, be...

need help with cabinets - 9 replies
I am building 6 storage cabinets for my church and I am having a hard time finding hinges that will work. The cabinets are 5’ tall, 44” wide and 32” deep. I know, that’s really deep, they even want them stacked to be 10’ tall. Most of the shelving will be used to store rubbermaid type bins, so the size works for ...

Table Saw Miter Gauge - 10 replies
I am looking for new miter gauge for my table saw. I came across this one from dewalt, http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/attachment_detail.asp?productID=9757 It is similar to the Osborne one Norm uses. I am curious if anyone has one of these and if so has any insight as to weather or not I should get one. I am looking at it because I found i...
