Just checked my email this morning and my local woodcraft had a article basically saying that delta it coming back to South Carolina and all of there stuff will be MADE IN USA. Such great news now if other companies would start doing this.

This would be nice. All of the Delta equipment that I have is US made. (tells you how old it is). If the quality comes back with it, I think they will do well.

The Chinese labor rates are growing 15% per year.
There shipping costs are growing exponentially, due to increased manufacturing sites being built further away from shipping ports. (Growth of inland industries to employ the proletariat) If this keeps up, you may see parity over the next 5 years and a huge increase in “re-shoring”, a term for companies moving back.
Hooray for Delta!

I read the same thing in my news letter. Good news. South Carolina’s upstate needs the work.

As Jim C states, its about economics, but good for us. I’d go on to say something about our government, taxes and the deficit, but we’ll leave that out of the woodworking news.

I am anxious to see if the quality returns as well. If so, Delta would become my tool brand of choice.

That’s great news.I’d rather have a Chinese owned company building items over here than an American company building items in China anytime.

Americans will as a matter of honor put quality into all the products they build. It is just the way we are.
