Urn for my BIL - 8 replies

This had to be the most difficult box to make so far. The actual building process wasn’t the problem, it was the purpose for it that was a little unsettling. I have 4 sisters that are married and this the only one I’ve actually called my BIL. Actually, I’ve always considered him more of a Brother. My sister ...

Making Chisels - 12 replies

Since screwdrivers are made of hardened steel, is it possible to heat to soften, reshape then reharden? My main reason I ask is cause I have had a couple of small projects where I need an 1/8” chisel but where I live, there’s none to be found. I would like to make a few small tools and screwdrivers are easy to come by.

Newbie Questions - 15 replies

I’ve been woodworking for over 30 years and have never touched a lathe. I think mostly due a accident about 45 years ago in shop class where another student split his head open when the bowl flew off the lathe at full speed. Anyway, I want to make tool handles mostly but can’t justify buying a lathe that just may be more of a shop de...

I couldn’t find anything on the Microsoft site and since this issue seems to be only on this site, I’m hoping someone here has a ...

Old Teak - 5 replies

I have used Teak while in a shop several years ago so I know about the usual cleaning with Denatured Alcohol or Acetone before glueup but I was wondweing about old weathered Teak. 3 Phase Motors - 26 replies

I am considering buying a older PM66 at a great price but has a 3 phase motor. The seller said he knows someone that can make me a converter if I have a 220 outlet for it(which I do) but since i’m not familar with 3 phase motors, i’m not sure if it’s worth the trouble and if it work correctly. Any insight would be helpful and a...
