Mission Style Arm Chair #2: Skip to the final product

Well, it took a while, and I didn’t take the pictures that I should have. Naturally as soon as I started, a customer wanted to order a chair with arms and I was ready to go. The final project really turned out well. Because of the straight sticks I work with, I wouldn’t want to sit in the chair for an extended length of time, but for just sitting around or doing some work at a desk it would be just fine. Now I have to make some for myself.

Thicknessing drum sander - shop made

I’ve had a fancy for a thicknessing sander but a 10-20 inch model costs the equivalent of $1000 US over here and there’s no way I can justify that sort of spending so I looked into making one of my own. There’s no shortage of help to be had on the world-wide-web. Last night I got the walls primed with 2 coats of Kilz. The sheetrock had been sitting in my shop 4 years and it really needed it. Today I put 2 coats of paint on the wall today. I have some walls in the shop already finished. I color matched the wall paint to my Jet equipment and I call it “Jet” white.
