trying to duplicate an end trim.....any suggestions? - 5 replies

My wife has commissioned my mediocre woodworking skills to make night stands for an antique bedroom set we have in our guest bedroom. I want to make them in the same style of the dresser. I’m not sure how I’m going to fabricate the front trimming. The side profile looks like this. I have a router and table, but not sure how ...

Brasso on table saw top - 25 replies

Hi everyone, With the Texas summer and humidity upon us, I’m having a lot of fun trying to keep the rust off my new table saw. I have tried the paste wax thing, but doesn’t seem to be real effective. So I’m having to clean the cast iron a couple times a week. The best thing I have found for cleaning it is Brasso. But after r...

Delta 36-725 insert plates - 1 reply

I was at a used woodworking tool store the other day, and ran across a Vermont American Dado set for 20.00. But the only insert I have for my Delta, is the one that came with it. So…..do I spend the money for a dado insert or try and make one. Guess what I did. It was actually easier then I thought it would be. I first used the factory ins...

1/2 to 1/4 router shank adapter - 4 replies

I’m in the middle of installing a router table in the wing of my Delta 36-725. I have a brand new Sears router that came with a table and other router installed in it. The extra router I plan on using, I discovered is 1/2 shank. All my bits are 1/4 inch. Does anyone have any experience with any adapters out there that work, or should I sta...

drill press dust collection....my version - 3 replies

I recently purchased a 10” Sears Craftsmen drill press. It was proceeded by an old Clarke I purchased about 8 years ago at a garage sale for 35.00. The motor finally gave out, but I got my money’s worth. I had a “jerry” rig for dust collection on it,but wasn’t very user friendly and seemed to be more in the way then...

Copy unuasual emellishment on antique dresser. - 1 reply

My wife and I have an antique bedroom set, with the bed and dresser. However we want some bed stands to match the dresser. I have a good idea how it’s put together, and shouldn’t have a problem, except for an unusual piece in the front. Could this have been done with a router, or pre manufactured trim. If so, is there a place on line...

Craftsmen 14" bandsaw verticle squarness question. - 3 replies

Tonight I was cutting some trim pieces at 30 degrees, and when I finished I reset the table back to 90 degrees with the blade, when I noticed that the edge of my square wasn’t lining up with the blade vertically. Is this normal, and does it really matter? Anyone else with a craftsmen 14” band saw, that can tell me how to adjust it? T...

Delta 36-725 - 7 replies

Well, I bit the bullet, and went and picked up the best Table saw Harbor Freight had to offer…..top of the line. Just kidding. After some extensive research, some deep soul searching, and some pretty smooth talking to the wife, I went and got the Delta 36-725. Hope all the advice I picked up on this forum pays off. Now it’s going to t...

TABLE SAW *Molding Head* Kromedge Cutters - 15 replies

When I bought my Craftsmen TS from a garage sale, it came with an assortment of blades in a wooden box. This thing was among them. Is it safe to use on a modern table saw. I guess its to create moldings and dados? https://s3.amazonaws.com/vs-lumberjocks.com/o79tcio.jpg!

Ridgid / Craftsmen Alternative - 9 replies

I’ve been thinking of upgrading my table saw from my sears 248840. I’ve been reading and viewing reviews on the Ridgid R4512, and the Craftsmen 21833, and they seem to be almost identical except for subtle differences in design. Is there an alternative that would be a better choice for under 750.00?
