$24 of Pine and pocket screws and a couple of days after work, and she is happy.

My wife did not like my super stylish mdf and threaded rod modern look. She is now happy because you don’t see the wires anymore.
This one is mdf, but painted. Also uses pine for the face frame and moldings. It also has hiden large casters so that it is easy to move and get back to all the connections. Sadly my horrible photography makes the finish look bad in the last photo, but it actually turned out OK.

I made this for her first birthday. Again Maple and Walnut. The ears and tail are connected with string so that they flop when you pull it.

I finally got around to making the fireplace look better. Originally it was carpeted along with the floors. I was able to finish the hardwood floors in the whole house, but the carpet looked awful at the fireplace. I made the side pieces to match up to the existing wood on the walls, and this was also my first masonry project. The color doesn’t match perfectly, but it is close enough. It isn’t perfect, but definitely better.
The second photo is the only one I can find that shows the carpet.

There was a plan in Wood magazine this month for a rocking horse, but that seemed too boyish to me, besides, Reli likes ducks.
I followed a lot of the plan (which is a first for me), but had to take a few design liberties. She seems to like it, so it is a success.
This is also the first time that I have used dyes. They work great. I will definitely use them for more project in the future.

The original painted wood porch was falling to pieces. It was quite embarrassing for me since all the neighbors know that I like to build things, and the rickety railings were two feet from my “shop” door. I decided tho replace the stairs and flooring with composite while I was at it.
