I would call this project ” From Flat Blank ( 25mm thick ) To 100 mm Deep Bowl”. It maybe ready early next year as I am very busy at the moment. I had some rough idea about it but I decided to try it for the first time. It can be segmented or made of one solid piece of timber of your choice, also, it can be round or square. Here, I am going to show you the first steps befor geting it ready for the lathe to finish it.
For that, I made a plywood tool rest designed to cut the blank to several rings at 45 degree angle and in the same width.
The process, so far, is going well. All I need is gluing the rings together to the base and start turning it to a bowl. I may add solid brown rim to make it deeper and better look. See you in my projects when it is ready.

Awesome idea with that tool rest, makes it easy to do some basic coring of rings without spendings 100’s of dollars on those expensive jigs. Thanks for sharing!

I love this process.
All of my bowls are made this way.
I even made a cyclone with the same technique.

At Scott, your comment suggested that I claimed this technique was my idea. Please, read it again, I said
” I had some rough idea about it, but I decided to try it for the first time” . And I sent the blog to show the process to many lumber jocks who have not come across such technique.
I visited your home page for the first time and went through your all 33 projects and I liked them all, in particular the Bulge Butcher Block, congratulation for hitting the DT3 again.
