Cherry Amoire #1: Getting past the design

I had been thinking about building some sort of cabinet for the office for awhile. It needed to be functional and most importantly my wife had to approve. :) There are alot of good examples out there but I never found one that I really liked. I love the Dr. White chest but I needed more drawers. My office is kind of a dumping ground of pictures,computer parts and paperwork…I needed something that would organize and hide all that.
Here is a drawing that I started with. I knew the general dimensions I wanted and the rest I would figure out on the fly…

Next this is the side panels assembled. The lower panel is just one sheet of 1/4” plywood…I didn’t see the need to use two since nobody will see it…

Next is the assembly of the carcass…I wish I had a bigger table. When I was attempting to get setup to glue one of the panels fell off the table…lesson learned there.

Finally here is the carcass assembled…slowly but surely…
