Location: Santee, CA

I've been a woodworker for over fifty years. My father taught me finish carpentry and basic cabinet making as a kid starting at age eight. The rest I learned by doing, by trial and error and by reading. I have a fully equipped wood shop in my garage. I started a small woodworking business from there when I retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.

I do mostly small jobs that most shops don't want to be bothered with. For quite a few years I did lots of woodcutting for arts and craft women who didn't have woodworking husbands. That has died off and I do very little craft related jobs. My niche now is furniture repair and some small cabinets. I've teamed up with a very busy local furniture repair business. I repair the furniture, they pick it up and do the stain matching and finish work. A perfect arrangement for both of us.

I also worked as a retail associate for Rockler Woodworking and Hardware in San Diego for 23 plus years. There I got to advise other woodworkers and share my woodworking knowledge. I do scroll saw demonstrations at the store near the Christmas holidays.

I'm pretty much totally immersed in woodworking and love it.
