no previous part Part 1 of If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck. series no next part

Just when I had everything set up for a winter of working on projects to sell in local craft fairs, the tranny in my Explore developed a major leak. I just had it overhaul 13 months ago so of course the warranty is out the guy that did the work is no longer in business. I have spent the last two months moving everything out of the shop and pulling the tranny, overhauling it again and reinstalling it. Should have done it the first time myself. Hope to get back to some wood working know.

-- But I did measure it twice and cut it three time and it still is to short!

The rear universal joint on my truck was bad so I thought I’d replace both just to make sure I didn’t turn around and have problems with the front one a few months down the road. Turns out the rear was the easy one to change and one of the caps installing the front one got caught on a burr and when I finally got it through, it did so violently enough to crack the cap on the opposite side. Now I have to buy another U-joint to replace the one I broke that was replacing one that didn’t need replacing in the first place!

My truck, a Ford as well, is sitting in the driveway as it decided to blow the front oil pump seal in the tranny and leaks ATF at a rapid pace… I have been waiting for my brother in law, who owns a shop, to make his heavy duty lift available. It is outdoors, and weather hasn’t been kind to them finishing with the wrecker that is on it now…

I glad I’m not the only one having mechanical problems. My biggest problem is I’m a certified master and automotive mechanic and the hardest thing for me to work on if my own cars. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope we can all return to our favorite pass time turning wood into saw dust.
