My favorite - American Cherry - 7 replies
I didn’t write this, but it’s good: Of all the woods out there awaiting your blade and bit, cherry is one of the few that has no substitute. Ash can often take the place of red oak and go unnoticed; mahogany has at least a half dozen look-a likes. But cherry? Different story. Plenty of woods have a similar, flawless fine texture t...

I bought the GlueBot 16oz. at my local woodworking store, Burns Tools.I got home and noticed the cap was cracked. It had another one (that goes to the edge glue tip) so I could use it.I hate returning ANYthing to that store, the douchebags that work there are…well, douchebags. So I emailed FastCap, explaining the stuation with the store and ...

I have struggled with sanding these areas for years.Sanding sponges, uggg.Hand contoured.Folding in half a expensive piece of 5 hole hook and loop – MIRKA, what a waste, and this is what I usually resort to doing. I waste Mirka Gold for a fold in half half ass sander.Any new products out, HOPEFULLY on Amazon, I am trying to fill up a shopp...

When I started lay-out of my shop I decided to start with a 6.5hp Shop-Vac and a Vortex add-on.They work very well, way better than I ever expected.I ran 2 1/2” clear hose with elbows, T’s, Y’s and blast gates for all machines. My shop is small so it still has good suction even 20 ft. away.I also have a inlet for a hose, w/blast...

I’ve BEEN cutting a lot of Hard maple & Cherry wood lately and my T saw blade has been gumming up something awefull.I have saw and bit cleaner from Grizzly. It works great. Better than oven cleaner. The gunk is gone in seconds. The Table Saw blade is gleaming.I notice a major difference when the blade is clean, believe me it makes a dif...

Building a Bed; full size, and a Dresser; 9 drawers.Hard Maple and Cherry.Using Watco Danish Natural Oil, applied flooded…wait, apply again, wait, wipe.Wait 1 week.Apply Gel Top-Coat, wipe on and wipe off, Satin. 2 coats. This leaves an unbelievable satin hand-rubbed finish that beg’s to be touched. It resembles Sam Maloof’s Oil ...

Are there many women into woodworking here, like full bore, full-woodshop girls out there? Just wondering, I looked in the “Jocks” menu but didn’t see any, I’m curious, not trying to get a woodworking date, ha, or start a gender war. Just thought it’d be interesting to see another perspective.

Storing Wood horizontal or vertical? - 5 replies
I have quite a few board ft, well, maybe 100bf or less, not that much, but I have it all, except the Poplar(in another room vertically leaning against wall)The “good wood” is all in my shop on wall hanging racks,LAYING on top of each other, is it cool to let my good lumber sit a-top each other on the horizontal, I see a lot of lum...

I cannot afford good clamps, no way. $30-60 each. (more like 50 -70) **They are pricey but I realize now, that it’s probably the way to go..But, then I go and buy Harbor Freight cheapo’s and regret it, they work, barely, I’ve broken a few, but never seem to hit the mark as I want it.What’s a woodworker to do unless they ...

The “E – clip” that keeps the auger screw rod from backing it’s self out, that’s connected to the blade raising handwheel on my 1966 (re-built except for housing, ha) Table Saw keeps on twisting-up and falling in my dust collection, ha.It’s easy to fix, but I have a feeling the teeth on the housing (of which I...

Improvised Edge Sander with table - 0 replies
I am probably not supposed to post this here…I get busted all the time.I took my Grizz combo sander and flipped it on it’s side and bolted it to a board, built a wrap around table that adjusts so I get all the use out of a belt, and the dust collection built-in works great + it sit’s on my downdraft table, so, NO DUST, it makes...
