I just joined up and am looking forward to exploring the site. I have A quick question,. Does anyone have an Osborne miter gauge and if so are you happy with it? I am thinking of getting one and would like any input.

Yes I do have one of them. I think for the money they do a great job. You still need to check them for square every once in a while, but I am happy with mine. The extension on them comes in very handy for longer cuts. They are very easy to adjust for different angles. I have not tried any of the other types though..

Here is a discussion that discusses the Osborne and some others… Also, I belive Popular woodworking has a miter gauge review in this months (September) issue.

You got some good feedback for that question, but just a little FYI: I think you will get better results using the forums for posting questions more than you will if you post them in your blog. I’ve had great results getting responses in the forums.

Welcome to the site. You’ll love it, I’m sure.

I think that Incra makes some fine tools, I have an INCRA Precision T-Rule and an Incra Universal Precision Positioning Jig, I believe the miter gauge to be high quality. My question about the Miter Express, for a tool that is rather expensive, is why are there so many plastic/nylon threaded parts? In my experience these items wear out rather quickly they surely could find a way to use metal threaded items. My 2 cents. ;-)

I’ve got a first gen Osborne and it is a cool tool. Simple, sturdy and does as designed. We should all be so lucky. I do wish I’d held out for one of the later versions as they overcame the only shortcomings that are present on mine. Still, it does as designed.
