I was inspired by L J Smithy when he posted an irish wedding chalace he made. Mydaughter is geting married in june an i thought i want to make one for her. My wife bought me a lathe about 2 years ago at an auction and it just sat in the corner of the shop. So this was the push i neded to build a stand and get turning. So easter afternoon i made the egg on the left then decided to try a lidded egg (looks more like a bullet).now its time to turn the chalace forgot how hard end grain turning is. Now the captive rings not bad for first ones. found that strech wrap works great to hold the rings while you turn the rest. It’s 3”wide 7” tall no plans just turned it by eye. finished with salad bowl finish on the inside just wax on outside.this was just a test i”ll be making the one for the wedding out of cherry or maple she can’t decide

castle bed

My granddaughter wanted a castle bed so this is what she got for christmas, this bed has 2 hidden cubbies that she can hide her special things in, has drawers in the steps, has a ton of book shelves and electric ran through it for all her little lamps, has lights in the head board so she can read or do homework, this can be used as a single bed or as bunk beds, but she uses the top area as a play area, you go up the steps across the top and there is a slide to go down, fun all year long. Hard to get good pictures when the bed takes up most of the room.
