I have a bunch of oak available. Is there any reason I should not build a traditional workbench (tail vise…dogs) out of it? Brandon

Now Available (again): Work Sharp 3000 Home Depot Discount ($78.26) - 167 replies

The website is NOW accepting backorders! Merry Christmas. I couldn’t sleep well tonight, and lo and behold I had a letter in my inbox from customer service. Of course, it didn’t say a thing about this new development… only that I might check the website time and again. Well, I did just that and wham. The price I quoted was w...

Instinct or Sagulator? - 6 replies

A few weeks ago, a friend asked/was convinced to let us build a bench/bookcase for her house. She really wanted something sturdy, and I originally planned to build it out of 2×4’s. But lowe’s has wide boards that are 3/4” thick. I really wanted to build it in this style:

Which saw would you reccommend: Porter or Ridgid? - 40 replies

I just learned a rather inexpensive lesson. Yesterday, I was resawing a piece of wood on my $60 Mastercraft “10 inch saw. The wood kicked back slightly, but I returned it to its position to continue onward. Suddenly it jammed back into the opening infront of the blade. I was not using a zero tolerance insert. The blade seized up and the ma...
