I have a bunch of oak available. Is there any reason I should not build a traditional workbench (tail vise…dogs) out of it? Brandon

Heater for Sale - 7 replies
I am selling my Marley/q-mark heater. It is brand new. Unfortunately, my shop 1000sqft is way to big and uninsulated for it. If you have a smaller shop, OR a shop that is already heater but needs an extra punch, I will sell you the heater for $110/OBO. I will mail. I am located in TN. It is a heavy duty heater with a thermostatMarely 482a...

The website is NOW accepting backorders! Merry Christmas. I couldn’t sleep well tonight, and lo and behold I had a letter in my inbox from customer service. Of course, it didn’t say a thing about this new development… only that I might check the website time and again. Well, I did just that and wham. The price I quoted was w...

Instinct or Sagulator? - 6 replies
A few weeks ago, a friend asked/was convinced to let us build a bench/bookcase for her house. She really wanted something sturdy, and I originally planned to build it out of 2×4’s. But lowe’s has wide boards that are 3/4” thick. I really wanted to build it in this style: http://books.google.com/books?id=MfcDAAAAMBAJ&...

Which saw would you reccommend: Porter or Ridgid? - 40 replies
I just learned a rather inexpensive lesson. Yesterday, I was resawing a piece of wood on my $60 Mastercraft “10 inch saw. The wood kicked back slightly, but I returned it to its position to continue onward. Suddenly it jammed back into the opening infront of the blade. I was not using a zero tolerance insert. The blade seized up and the ma...

Looking for a Kiln, or should I just use Boron? - 2 replies
I am making a cabinet for the garage from old barn wood which shows signs of boring holes and other bugs, dirt… I plan to spray the wood with a hose and scrub off, but I do not want to invite bugs into my wood shop. I think I will spray with Boron, but a. will that be bad for me or the wood? b. Is that something I should consider ...
