My shop started out not necessarily intended to be a wood shop but more or less just a workshop in general to house tools, lawn equipment and a four wheeler. i broke ground in January 2010 and and the time of construction wood working was really not a hobby of mine. My dad did woodworking as a hobby and my grandfather built the interiors for crew boats and supply boats so i’ve been around it my whole life but the bug had not bitten me quite yet. During the construction of the cabinets and work bench is when i started to get the itch. Things were coming together nicely on the interior, that all changed last April with the Deepwater Horizon tragedy. I spent the better part of the next 3 months helping with cleanup efforts on the gulfcoast and offshore. By the time i got wrapped up with that project it was just to darn hot to mess around in the shop and work basically came to an all stop until late December. Since then i’ve completed to top set of cabinets. Currently the work bench and bottom cabinets are wrap in MDF. I plan to pull off the MDF and replace the facing and doors with polar. Something cheap to learn with and since it is in my workshop it really doesn’t matter if it does not come out perfect.
Currently on the tool list: i just recently replaced my Ryobi Contractor Table saw with a Grizzly G0715P, Ryobi 12” miter saw, Dewalt DW735, a couple of PC 693 routers in a skil router table, the skil table is soon to be replaced with an actual custom table, dust collection duties are handled by a Grizzly 1-1/2hp collector, and various dewalt drills, jigs and skill saw.
Looking up the road i plan to purchase a 6×48 jointer and a pc7518 w/prl-v2 lift and a lot wood. I’ll get pics up as shorlty
