My name Skip, I'm in North Carolina now I am from Waterville Maine born and raised, I enjoyed the outdoors my family and friends I have been a carpenter for 40 years, enjoy working with wood and was always good with my hands, i moved to North Carolina, a few years ago to support my daughter because our grandson had brain cancer.he passed away a couple years ago, Jake will always be in my heart,i work in the nuclear power industry, for granite at GE, I have been doing wood carving for a long time, I handcarved and power carve whatever it takes to get the look I want everything I carve is free hand, because I'm not very good at following instructions, I take a piece of wood and go with it, the best part is you never know what you're going to end up with.

Welcome Skip. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

A belated “WELCOME” to you!

I like all of your fish carvings, especially the ones with the clear finish.

There’s nothing nicer than the beauty of natures creations.

Welcome to the site Skip. Your talents and experience will be a big asset to up all. I am impressed by your story. I ask an indian friend about how to carve and he said something like you describe. Pick up the wood, get to know it and it will tell you what it wants to be. Apparently my hearing is impaired.
