Drum making #3: Poplar Snare Drum

Took the shell to work. Reason? Don’t own a lathe. So i turned it on a big metal engine lathe. I had to clamp it very loose because the 3 jaw chuck was distorting the shape. If I ever make these things for real, I will make a jig to hold the shape.

Nice work!!

You gotta check out my friend’s website http://www.koasnare.com/ . She laminates her snares out of thinly resawed exotic woods. I was able to see her at work when she lived Hawaii. It was quite impressive…
