Since taking an introduction to Japanese woodworking, I’ve been itching to find the time outside of class to practice the joinery and techniques he’s been teaching (which have been game-changing for me). Since a lot of what I make is dictated by what wood I have lying around, I decided to take some cupped/warped poplar and walnut to make a small and simple serving tray.
Today I only got around to a basic design in my head, and hand milling the woods flat and roughly to size. Next, I’ll be doing some layout.
