I am rapidly becoming a fan of Tools for Working Wood and the Gramercy line of specialty tools. This review is about the French style veneer saw but if you look closely, you will see their superb holdfasts being used as well. When you pick up this saw you know immediately that it is like no other veneer saw you (or at least I) have ever held before. Sometimes I just can’t resist. If this plane set had been real junk, I’d have been out $11.99….............so I decided to live dangerously …. after all, I’m not even that much of a hand tool guy. I’ve posted two home made veneer hammers in the past as projects. This one comes right off the shelf and it works better than either of my previous attempts. The only modification needed to transform it from the Clarke Kent of the paint scraper world to the Superman of the affordable, available veneer hammer world is that you need to spend a few moments at the bench grinder dulling it down and smoothing the edge.
