Outfeed table - 18 replies
I have been wanting to make an outfeed table for my new Baileigh saw ever since I got it. Some LJ members shared some of theirs which I really liked, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. So, I went to a reuse store, and found some desks that had been given to them from the college. It just happens to be about a week before all the st...

We have a horrible wasp problem. As soon as it started getting warm these suckers have moved back in. I have been killing like 5 a day in the house, and there are always atleast that many in the shop. I have an electric flly swatter in the house, which is awesome!! bandsaw problems - 16 replies
I decided to make my first bandsaw box the other day. I used a 3/8in blade. When I cut the drawer out, I felt like the kerf was too wide so I switched to a 1/4in blade. I noticed when I opened it up, the welded part was bent pretty bad, almost a 90degree bend. I straightened it out by hand and thought it was straight, but now my bandsaw is vibra...

Air filtration - 37 replies
I was thinking about getting an air filtration unit for my shop, but wanted to know if they make a big difference and are really worth it. It is impossible for me to keep my shop clean right now. I would have to dust like twice a day. It’s not only from my woodworking dust, we live on a gravel road so I get that dust too. So, for those of ...

how much for a rigid tablesaw? - 60 replies
I am trying to sell my rigid tablesaw. I am asking $375 and willing to come down to $350. Is this a fair price or am I asking too much? I have had 3 people interested, but they didn’t want to pay that much. It comes with everything(miter, wrench, fence, etc.) It is in great shape, nothing wrong with it. I am also offering the sleds and jig...

dust collector hose - 48 replies
I need to run some line from my dust collector to my tools. I would like to do 4in. I can’t beleive how expensive it is! I’ve looked into PVC, and the price is alot better. What about corrugated pipe? That would be the easiest/cheapest way to go, but I wasn’t sure if the currugation would cause too much friction. I looked into ...

So, I finally ordered my bandsaw. I got the 17in grizzly with CI trunion. I know I need to get an aftermarket blade, but have no idea which one to get. I want something that’s good, but don’t want to spend a fortune. Is timberwolf the way to go? Any other suggestions?? Thanks!!

Extra grizzly coupon anyone?? - 16 replies
I am finally going to buy the 17in grizzly bandsaw!! I have been looking on CL forever, but can’t find a decent one. I am really excited but I HATE paying full price for anything. I know they offer coupons, but I don’t have any right now and was wondering if anyone had one they didn’t plan on using. Thanks!

I thought I had finished buffing out an application of laquer, but after putting some paste wax on it, it really brought out some defects that I would really like to fix. Is there any way to remove the wax without removing the laquer? Or can I just sand without removing the wax? I really really don’t want to start over since I have already...

Design for shelves - 8 replies
I am making shelves for a family member. They will be made of red oak and will wrap around the room except the wall with the door. There will be 2 14ft sections and 2 11ft sections and all 10in wide. I have a design picked out, but I was wondering if I should put a verticle peice either in front or back on the bottom side of the shelf to help pr...

To the Ohioans - 10 replies
Andrew Betschman informed me of the Woodworking Show http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/shows/columbus.htm coming to Columbus March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I will be attending the 3rd since I have to work the other days. I was just wondering if any fellow lumberjocks will be there. If you are and recognize me, say hi! It would be great to meet som...

Increasing CFM in air compressor - 28 replies
I have a 6 gal PC air compressor. I would like to be able to use it with a spray gun for finishing, but I’m pretty sure the CFM is to low (2.6 @90PSI). I really don’t want to have to wait on it to fill back up, or listen to it run all the time. I saw in a magazine where someone made a really neat air tool station that included a port...

Don't throw that away!! - 42 replies
I was messing around in my shop the other night, and started thinking of some of the things I do to save money. I thought of a few things that most people would throw away, that I keep and repurpose. Then that made me think of LJ and I thought it would be a good thread to start so we could all share our money saving ideas. Since I am putting mor...

finishing wet/green wood - 9 replies
So I finally started my first log project. I figured I should start small so I am making my daughter a step stool. I cut the tree down that I am using about a week or 2 ago so it is still wet. (I have been told it is cotton wood) Are there any restrictions to putting a finish on green wood? It has been peeled for a few days so the outside feels ...

Gaurantee on your work - 21 replies
Do those of you that sell your work put any kind gaurantee on your work? If so, how long do you make it, and what are the specifications for it? I am trying to decide if I should put one on mine, b/c I if something should happen to it, and it was my fault, I know I would fix it for free…but until I build up a reputation my costumers don...
