Half of jointer out of square - 12 replies
I am having some issues with my jointer. I have the DJ20 jointer. When I make the fence square to the infeed table, then it is not square to the outfeed table and visa versa. My fence seems to be straight. What else could cause this to happen? Obviously that would mean it is in the tables, but I have never moved either table, and am a little sca...

finishing before assembly - 9 replies
I am working on an armoire. The inside is going to be white washed and the outside a teal stain. I was thinking it would be a lot easier to finish the inside before I assemble it. If I do this, am I risking the sides warping since only one side will be finished for at least a few days? It is made of solid maple. The sides are 3/4×10 3/4...

Hi everyone. I am working on getting my shop more organized….well I guess I am always trying to do that….but more so now. I have moved some tools around and need to do something with the power cords and dust collection hoses that run across the floor. I have seen some awesome shop setups on this site and was hoping to get some ideas....

youtube comments - 2 replies
I know this is not LJ’s related, but I’m not sure who else to ask. I’m hoping someone that is good with youtube can help me. I have some woodworking videos on youtube. In the comment section is says I have other comments that have been removed because they may be spam, but they are not. How to I get them to come back up? And wh...

how to make legs/back for armoire - 10 replies
I am making this armoire for someone I work with. It is going to be solid ambrosia maple. My question is about the legs. Do I do legs on the back too? If so, that would mean I am putting a “face frame” on the back also? I am thinking that would be the only way to get the legs on the back too. That is my plan anyway unless someone can...

which planer would you choose? - 31 replies
I know, not another which tool should I buy, but I can’t decide. I have been looking for a good used planer for a month or 2 now since my delta lunch box broke down. Of course, 2 that I like have came up at the same time. I found a 13in jet planer/molder on CL for $600, supposedly not used but has a little surface rust from sitting in a ga...

tree house slide ideas? - 16 replies
Hi guys. My daughter is turning 4 on the 7th. I am going to build her a tree/play house for her birthday. I am amazed at how expensive all the accesories are. The cheapest swing is $20, slides are $200, etc…well, me being cheap am trying to figure out how I can make all this stuff myself. Everything seems pretty easy except the slide. Has ...

how to sell at craft shows, flea markets, etc - 40 replies
There is a big Backwoods Fest coming up near me. They have hundreds of vendors that come. A man that is from there saw some of my projects and told me that if I brought my stuff to this festival I would sell more than I can make. So, I got an application and it asked for my vendors license #...well I don’t have one, I am not a business. So...

just picked these up on ebay for $16.50+S&H. I feel like I got a really good deal, but thought I should ask some people who know alot about hand planes. These are antique Parker-Hubbard &CO. I use my shoulder plane and block plane quite a bit, but that’s it for planes. I would love to get better at using them b/c I don’t enjo...

Help!! How do I find an angle? - 55 replies
I got a job making a kitchen island for a woman. The thing is, she needs the base by 7/2 b/c that’s when the counter top is coming in and they said the base has to be done. The problem I am having is finding the angles. And I also need to know what the length of the centers will be. I worked all night on sketchup for the first time and...

DIY air filtration unit - 15 replies
I have been really busy, but finally got the chance to make a new video and make the air filtration unit I have been wanting to make. I will update later on how much of a difference it makes in the shop. I also still need to stick some trim on the front so I will post that in my projects when it’s done. Thanks to everyone that put their un...

how to mix mixol tints - 27 replies
Hi, I am making a cabinet/armoire for a coworker. He gave me a pic from a magazine of what he wanted it to look like. This has a very light teal colored paint, but we decided to tint/stain it that color instead so the grain will show through. I bought some mixol tints. Does anyone have any experience on mixing these? I tried putting it straight ...

hidden treasure:) - 18 replies
It’s probably been about a year since I found an add on CL for some walnut. It was stuff that was not good enough to sell for top price, so I got a good deal on it. I paid $400 for about a half a truck load full. When I was loading it I was a little worried. When I got home, and unloaded it, I thought “I just paid $400 for firewood...

Hi all. I have some questions about a box I am going to make. I have never made a box…and I know it sounds simple but I know it’s not going to be as easy as it sounds. leveling outfeed table - 15 replies
Hi all. I am having some trouble leveling my outfeed table. We built the shop last spring on ground that had just been excavated, so the floor has settled and is no longer level. The desks started out unlevel. I put bases on the desks thinking it would be easier to level from the top. It is about 5 1/2ft by 7ft. I leveled the center with threade...

Outfeed table - 18 replies
I have been wanting to make an outfeed table for my new Baileigh saw ever since I got it. Some LJ members shared some of theirs which I really liked, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. So, I went to a reuse store, and found some desks that had been given to them from the college. It just happens to be about a week before all the st...
