I've been doing woodworking since I was a kid. My dad had lots of basic tools and I learned by watching him repair stuff and make things around the house. I always enjoy the planning and building process, but I really need to work at enjoying the sanding and finishing processes. I'm finding I'm not the only one in that regard.

When the Guitar Hero video game was at the height of its popularity, I sold lots of wood guitar stands for those on ebay under company name Measure Twice Products. You can see the video commercial I created here - . After making and selling a few hundred of those, the production style woodworking took all the fun out of it for me and I decided to take a long break.

When my father passed away in Jan '12, I inherited his tools and I'm once again enjoying building projects for fun. I feel a sense of responsibility to put his tools to good use by helping others like he always did. I hope to produce some great projects and entertaining videos that put smiles on people's faces and make my family proud.

Steve, I made good on my promise and used a bunch of cedar boards I had in the shop to copy your great idea today. (I had a bunch of conference calls for work this afternoon and kept running out to my garage shop between calls; a great way to spend downtime.) Got it finished except for the lettering which I’ll do at some other point. For now I printed out a sign that read “Facebook Cafe” and under that “Where the only thing that gets wasted is your time.” It got a few laughs around the house.
I’m also of the same mindset of feeding squirrels. I live in the hills of northwest CT and at any given time our feeders are surrounded by squirrels, chipmunks, a ton of varieties of birds (two Cardinals this evening) and even the occasional black bear (visited here the other night) who will destroy the pole feeders if I don’t bring them in for the night. We’re also blessed with some bald eagles on the lake opposite my house.

Anyway, thanks for the plans and video. I hope you have a great weekend…happy woodworking!

Steve, another wonderful project. Your a real asset to this community in that you are so willing to share many of your projects both in videos and PDF files. A personal thanks from me. I learn much from you.
