Hello,
I am from south Georgia and grew up on my family's farm. Growing up on a farm really makes you appreciate hard work and enjoy working with your hands. On the farm you become a jack-of-all trades; mechanics, wiring, fixing all sorts of things, but not much woodworking. However on my own time I built small things and then speaker boxes for all the buddies and found a passion for working with wood. In my late teens I realized I didn't want to take on the breakin-even farm and being that woodworking is slim to none around here I pursued a phone company job and got a degree in electronics. In 2001 I began working for a cable/phone company and married my beautiful high-school sweetheart. During the next few years life was busy and overtime was regular trying to pay bills so woodworking was rare. Then came WoodWorks on DIY, and boy did I come alive! I went and spent every extra dollar and every extra minute I had collecting tools and being in the shop. Every since then nothing has changed, still my passion, and praying that I can convert to it full-time. Best of all my wife has started helping me in the last few months and also enjoys it! I am blessed to be able to do what I love!

Hello Scarbor,
Let me welcome to LJs. I am sure that you will find being a member of this group to be both a rewarding and an inspirational part of your woodworking adventure.
-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.

Hey Man, I started out making speakerboxes also, then a table here and there. Once you get the wood working bug its hard to get rid of.
