Ok, so I am brand new to this forum, Kinda.
I have been reading posts for the last few years and never bothered to join till now.
I really haven't made any major projects, just build stuff that I need to keep all my stuff in.
Really thinking about trying to make something worthwhile, but just haven't found the time.
I currently have a Craftsman table saw that is about 25 years old. Still works fine, but I don't even know if my bearings were to go out if I could find parts for it anymore.
My first big question!
I would like to get a new table saw. I would be willing to spend around $1,000- $1,500 and have no idea on what to get. There are so many opinions on saws on this site. Some good and some not so good.
A guy I work with has a Powermatic contractor type saw and says it's great, but is sure seems that there are so many brands available in that price range, it's hard to figure out what to get.
I already looked at the new Craftsman and Ridgid and have simply read of to many problems with them so I am not considering them.
I do have the ability of 220 power, but to be honest, I don't ever see myself becoming a cabinet maker and don't really know if it's worth going that way.
My shop is my garage and I have to pull the saw out from the wall every time I need to use it. I already made a table saw station that does just that, and in the process of building a new one that has more drawer space to keep tools in.
Any advise will be appreciated. I am a sponge for information and ideas from other woodworkers.
Thanks for reading. I look forward to be able to contribute if possible.
