Some time back I was talking to someone about classes that a guy somewhere around Fredericksburg, VA. gives on Sam Moloof style rockers but for the life of me I cant find the thread or message that had to do with it. Are you out there?

Sandhill, Not sure but it looks as if Charles Neil had held a class at some point and he is down that way.

Here is the post I found about it. http://lumberjocks.com/topics/25796
Hope that helps.

You might be referring to Hal Taylor. I’m going to purchase his plans and video instructions. Attending Rocking Chair University looks like a lot of fun. -Jack

That’s the one Jack. I could not find it for the life of me. I knew about the one Charles has and the one that is in Montana but I do not have that kind of money to spend but I can afford 175.00 for a DVD and plans that Hal as. I like the design he has and I like the fact that he will support and answer any questions you have. At some point I would like to go and do the seminar but with the way things are economically I cant right now.
I am calling him today to order the DVD video instructions today.
Thanks Guys.

Just so you all know I got my Hal Taylor video and temple set yesterday and watched #1 Wow good stuff. I will do a review on his and maybe another one I go which I most likely should not say anything about because it was a waist of money so far.

Just so you all know, I got my Hal Taylor video and temple set yesterday and watched DVD #1 of 3 and Wow good stuff and worth every penny it cost which was not that much. I will do a review at some point on HALS and maybe one other one I got which I most likely should not say anything about Scott Morrison’s Rocker DVD. Moma said ”If you cant say something nice about something, Keep your mouth shut.” I feel it was a waist of money and that’s all I will say.

Well I have been watching the videos from Rocking Chair University and started making the arm cutting fixture which is in clamps right now and I will clean it up tomorrow and start gluing the rocker forming fixture tomorrow. I am enjoying working with 8/4 lumber and look forward to start making the parts for the rocker. I am using all 8/4 cherry for two reasons: first its my first chair, second I have a lot of it and it will look good. After I make one rocker for each family member I will move onto the higher end figured wood. Its going to be a bit hectic for the next 3 months with making chairs, living room set and trying to move into my new shop so I may not be real good about posting updates and progress.

Have your say...
